01Statement

It's not what you're looking at. It's what you see.

Nemr has been drawing faces for 35 years — in Beirut newsprint, in the Arab world's first adult-comic magazine, on storyboards for Pepsi and Kellogg's. Since 2020 he finds them ready-made: a patched wall, two bolts on a manhole, a kerb cracked into a grin. He draws on what the city already drew.
